Infuriating Audio Glitch
App queues a “Workout started” sound clip and halves the volume of audio apps after pressing the start button, but it takes 5-10 MINUTES from pressing the button to play the sound clip and return your audio app volume to normal. Often I just turn up the volume after pressing start and wait for the inevitable blast at a random point later in my workout. Really infuriating if I’m in the middle of a movement or on the row machine and have to stop and adjust the volume again. Edit: on reading other reviews, I agree the app also randomly stops tracking workouts. I was willing to think this was somehow user error on my part, but given others’ experiences I’m leaning towards software malfunction.
App keeps pausing the workout
Several times, while on walks of from 2 to 5 miles, I get home to find that the App has paused itself about the 1.5 miles point and I’ve lost the remainder of my workout. This is with a WaHoo chest sensor running on an iPhone 8. I get home and go to stop and save the workout only to get a message asking if I want to restore the workout. I’m losing miles of my workouts. Sensor is still broadcasting and the App is simply shutting itself down. Can’t rely on this system the way it’s currently working. !
Went from good to bad
I used the Wahoo app for biking for years, it worked well enough and kept good history. The new app update kills my iPhone battery, many easy to recognize controls went from color one touch button to grey and multi-select just to start a session. I think the native Apple fitness app beats it now.
Crashes every ride
Ever since the downgrade, which was purported to be an upgrade but really wasn’t, I’ve been experiencing crashes with every use. Latest version of iOS installed on my iPhone 11 Pro. Never had an issue prior to the downgrade.
App won’t hold connection to WiFi
Can’t update firmware because the app keeps dropping its connection to my WiFi. All my other devices are connected without any issues. Tried restarting everything - multiple times. I’ll update this review if an update comes out which fixes my issue.
Crash… after crash… after crash
App was always (for years) rock solid for trainer rides on my KICKR. Now, over the past several weeks, it crashes repeatedly EVERY SINGLE WORKOUT. It then takes many minutes to try and recover, and more often than not the data from my rides are lost. Latest updates need fixing ASAP. Completely unreliable as a training tool if it won’t even track my data on their own equipment (KICKR, HR monitor, etc)
Crashes multiple times mid-workout
The older version of this app worked beautifully. It connected with my watch/heart rate monitor and my Wahoo Kickr. It did the job. Since it was updated to include “added content” (ad-like additions), it now crashes 2-3 times during my workout, and takes a minute or two to recover the workout, sometimes entirely losing the stats from the first part of the ride. It also no longer connects with my heart rate monitor, so I have to track that separately.
Added the start workout countdown to the general alerts option Playr
