It was a good run…
I used this app for years and build dozens of customized workouts. Recently the audio has begun to glitch and my requests for support have gone unanswered. It can still track runs, but doesn’t give the feedback and pace coaching I loved.
Great app. For running
I use this app with Polar heart rate and Stryd foot pod. I can’t remember when I first started using the app it has been such a long time. It works great and records all the stuff I want. It always works for me. I’ve used it in places with no cell service with no problems. I’ve used the watch app only and together with the phone. It loads data to Apple fitness. This is one of those apps I love because it always works for me. Polar can be a bit dodgy so I occasionally need to re- pair it. But that is a polar thing not this app. My only wish is bigger numbers as there seems to be some extra screen real estate since I can’t see the small stuff without reading glasses.
Unsupported App
iSmoothRun website says current app version is 6.2.0 and there are no known bugs. Untrue. Notice all of the recent negative reviews of unresolved issues and bugs. No replies from the proprietor. Current version is 7.x.x something, as of this review. Used to be the best for structured automated workouts. Buyer beware! Over the last several years, the app has been buggy but work-arounds could be applied and the proprietor was accessible. Now, the app crashes on iWatch shortly after the start of a run. If watch + phone is used, it doesn’t crash. Thus defeating the apps usefulness. Reported issues are unread, let alone unresolved.
Update for WatchOS 10
Please update version of watchOS so that the widget is able to launch this app!
Useful but… dated
Exceedingly infrequent updates It needs a major overhaul
Does not sync with Final Surge
I got this to work with Final Surge back in December for a brief time but that was challenging and then it stopped working altogether, it just does not sync. I have a running plan from a coach in Final Surge and it is not populating in the training calendar. Also, the watch/phone combo doesn’t always work well. Disappointed, will not renew yearly upgrade plan. Waste of time and money for me.
Is this really the best?
I’m using Training Peaks (supposedly popular training platform) with an Apple Watch Ultra (supposedly popular endurance watch). This app is supposed the best choice to sync the two, making day-of workouts easier. I’m very disappointed in this thing. 1. Ugly UI 2. Non-intuitive app UX 3. GPS did not work, ruining my first workouts The amount of overhead I must put into to get training peaks and ismoothrun to work is unnecessarily high. I’m surprised there’s nothing better out there.
for distances less than 200 m, you can set distances in 10 meter intervals.Minor Fixes ** Garmin uploads are not yet fixed and most probably GC support will be removed due to changes on the Garmin side. What's new in v7.0.x *Always On Display. *Apple Watch Ultra Action button Supported *"Do nothing" was added as an option for the actions of the AW buttons. *"Walking power" is added in the Apple watch setup page. AW reports 0 W power when you walk and this can spoil your stats. By defining "walking power" the app will record this when you walk instead of 0. *Another template is added with 5 metrics per page (1-2-2) ** Minimum WatchOS version required
