Description
Lucidea Explorer is your tour guide, providing audio, video, pictures, descriptions, and transcriptions as you hear or read about the objects in your favorite museum or other institution. Take one or more audio tours using your iPhone or iPad, with maps to help you find your way. Lucidea Explorer also provides visitor information and exhibition descriptions.

Your visit begins when you scan the Lucidea Explorer QR code, on display in the entrance area, in printed materials, or on the website or social media of the museum or other institution. Once you scan the QR code, you'll have access to tours, exhibitions, maps, featured items, and more.

Lucidea Explorer is available for any museum or other institution that uses the Lucidea Argus collections management software and shares their Lucidea Explorer QR code.

Please remember to use earbuds or headphones whenever listening to audio in a public area.

Version 1.2 has many improvements.

--- QR codes ---
• The camera view is a rectangle in the center of the screen.
• The camera can be used in landscape orientation.
• Barcodes are highlighted as you pass over them.
• If a QR code has previously been scanned, you can choose to re-download the data.

--- Downloading ---
• The initial data download is faster.
• Messages are displayed if internet access is lost or not available.
• If you cancel a download, background downloading stops and the list of institutions on the Setup screen is updated.
• Images load dynamically on the Home, Tours, and Exhibitions tabs, faster than previously.
• Changing from one institution to another is faster.

--- Server-side update detection ---
• Each institution is checked for updates, at most once daily or when you go to the Setup screen.
• The list of institutions on the Setup screen indicates which are up to date.
• Download prompts now show the last updated date.

--- Calendar and events ---
• Tap the calendar icon on the Home tab for the Calendar screen.
• You can change months, tap a day, tap the Today button, or tap an event to view details.
• You can share an event, go to its website, or go to the previous or next event.
• You can mark an event as a favorite.

--- Messages and error handling ---
• Messages are improved throughout the app.
• Upon launch, a message appears if a later app version is available.
• Exhibits are now called Exhibitions.
• A message is displayed if a tour, exhibition, or object is not available for display.

--- Language support ---
• The Languages screen is now accessed from the Setup screen rather than from the Settings tab.
• The Language screen lets you choose to use the language set in the iOS Settings app.
• The preferred language is used for screen headings, exhibition dates, Cancel buttons, Back buttons, and download messages.
• Leading English and French articles are ignored when sorting favorite tours, exhibitions, and objects.

--- Tour stops ---
• Object titles are displayed first, rather than Object IDs.
• Progress circles for tours are more accurate.
• On an initial tour stop, the previous-stop arrow is omitted rather than being disabled.
• If you return to a tour stop, the time slider is repositioned where you left off.
• On the last tour stop, the > changes to an X.
• Tour progress is retained if you leave the app and return.
• iPad screen rotation is supported.

--- Buttons and icons ---
• The Setup screen is identified by the Lucidea Explorer "E" app icon.
• The Exhibitions tab displays a website button when there's an associated website.
• On the Home tab, the heart (favorites) icon has a box around it to distinguish it from the favorite-setting heart icon on other screens. The icon is red when there are favorites and blue otherwise.
• The Settings tab has a Refresh button to return to factory settings.

--- Interface improvements ---
• Vertical scrolling is smoother.
• The Information screen supports rich text and iOS Dark Mode, and has a separate tab for Hours.

--- Bug fixes ---
• Features, tours, and exhibitions are shown in the correct order.
• Videos are positioned and sized correctly.
• The Share button on the Tour screen now works.
• Exhibitions have the correct dates in all timezones.
