absolutely amazing app. but like with many open source things one needs a few hours to tune the interface to ones needs. the customizability can be daunting for many and the possibilities to make it your own map-app are truly endless. ones everything is setup and you know what you find where its great.
I love Osmand but on one of the phones (Samsung S21FE) it does not work properly - it minimizes and goes to the background. It happens randomly, sometimes after one minute, sometimes after longer time. All settings are as on other devices that are not having this issue, so not sure why this is happening. The app is always up-to-date.
I find it much easier to read and navigate than Google, only drawback is not having effective postcode search because UK closed it even though post office was a national organisation at the time. It's a pretty big snag though and makes it unusable for practical purposes because you can't locate your destination. I used to use a separate app to convert postcodes to map refs but that seems to have disappeared. Very frustrating.

Regarding the recent update, thank you! The update gave us the ability to add custom buttons to the screen and one option was switching between day and night mode. I use this app for navigation on a tablet mounted to my bike. During morning and evening, and when passing under overpasses, the app would switch between day and night, which was really annoying. Now I have the option to force it into one mode and to switch it as the morning brightens or the night darkens. Again, thank you.
Quite nice app for OpenStreetMap updates. However, this crashes on favorites imports quite easily, so I would not recommend this version if you have a lot of map marker usage in your use cases.
