This is turn-limited version of Allied WWII Invasion of Japan 1945, a strategy game set on the Pacific theater during the Second World War. This was a planned operation that was not carried out.
This scenario covers Operation Olympic (landing on Kyushu), which was the first part of Operation Downfall (Invasion of Japan).
In this campaign you are in command of the US amphibious force tasked with seizing Kyushu - the southernmost of the Japanese home islands - to set the stage for the second stage of the Operation Downfall. The geography of Japan has forced the Allies to choose a predictable strategy, and the Japanese have set up their fanatical forces very well to take on the American onslaught. To defend Kyushu Japan is planning to throw in most of their troops, as well as huge number of civilian fighting units and what's left of their naval might. The fact that Japan is starting to run low on supplies is counterbalanced by the extreme supply distances Allies has to deal with, not forgetting kamikaze planes and midget submarines.

Hypothetical campaign only the way Joni Nuutinen can do it. Real strategic planning. Use of and knowledge of the "rules of war" useful. Where to attack, with what forces and where to commit assets. Great gameplay. Simple without being simplistic. An AI that is a tough opponent. Naval and air included. Triphibious game of the first order. Excellent.

Brilliant. Excellent. Land, air and sea against a fanatical enemy. Fantastic. Best game on this hypothetical situation. One of the best if not the best developer/designers out there. Two front Invasion is challenging, but use of all arms it is possible to defeat Japan. Use of a coast hopping strategy also is doable, but one must allocate proper resources to ensure success.

So,the invasion of Japan involves starting in Kyushu???Bad mistake!!!If I were to want to conquer the islands(like I did in Kessen),I would want to aim straight for the Emperor!!!Probably,I'd start my invasion in Tokyo Bay!!!Also, starting on both sides of Kyushu is a potential problem!!The invading Armies cannot help each other if they are counterattacked & the defenders can use their entire force to counterattack one invading army at a time....

Brilliant
Artillery/airforce can spend MPs to prepare for the next barrage/sortie that will be more effective
