Hide distractions on websites such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, LinkedIn, Gmail and take back control of your attention! While we acknowledge the distracting and engrossing nature of these sites, completely blocking them is not always feasible due to the valuable content they offer. This Safari extension allows you to selectively hide attention-grabbing components on each site. For instance, on YouTube, you have the option to conceal recommended videos, shorts, comments, and more. Similarly, on Facebook and Instagram, you can hide the feed, reels, stories, and other elements. The same goes for each supported site. Furthermore, SocialFocus offers an array of supplementary features, including Startup Settings, Import / Export and more. Users who want to support the development of the project can additionally subscribe to the PRO version. The PRO version will give access to some additional features that are not available in the standard version, such as hotkey configuration, settings synchronization and some others. NOTE: This extension does NOT work with the apps, it works only for websites while using the Safari browser. Terms Of Use: https://socialfocus.app/tos/
Can’t seem to get FaceBook part working.
Can’t seem to get FaceBook to block anything. Don’t want to see Reels or posts from people I don’t follow. Giving 2 stars because I use the devs other app for YouTube and it works great. Sent email with screen shots of Reels showing up even though the extension is enabled and the block Reel toggle is selected.
Hides legitimate posts
This app works great at hiding all the junk I don't want to see. It also works great for hiding all the posts I DO want to see. Several legitimate posts from friends and pages I follow are being hidden by this app and I cannot figure out why. Disable the app and bam, all the missing posts instantly reappear. I submitted a support request on 4/26/2024 about the issue including an offer to provide screenshots/screen recordings of the issue and I never heard back.
Nail in the Coffin
Over the years of my social media addiction journey, I have made many attempts at quitting, or at least reducing the time spent to something negligible (like 30 min/week). I have used iPhone's Time Limit function, which really didn't help, only made using the apps slightly more annoying, I've tried one sec, an app that basically adds a 5 second delay before apps load to remind you what the goal is, which also made little change and added annoyances. Then more recently, I started only using website-based apps for the particularly distracting websites (for me that is YouTube and Instagram). This method was reducing my overall time spent on these websites, as the mobile versions tend to make the experience so much less enjoyable--to the point where you don't really even want to use it, unless there is literally nothing else to do (i.e. in a waiting room or something). This extension seems to be the perfect way to prevent me from even getting sucked into the destructive trap of social media all together. I can chose exactly what things keep me scrolling and turn them off: what a perfect idea! I am hoping this will be the nail in the coffin for me to completely ditch mindlessly consuming content that is fed to me, and instead be intentional with YouTube (use it as a search engine for problems and tutorials) and Instagram (keep up with the chats I’m a part of). I thank the developers for making this free, unlike many of the other options for this type of service. It will truly improve the life of me and many others, I'm sure.
Bait and switch
Dev originally charged $3 for this app. Now they’ve made it free and switched to subscription model. No thanks.
doesn't seem to do anything at all
turned off my other ad blockers, and just tried this one by itself. sorry, but didn't do anytning that I could detect. all the socail icons were left, still active. restarted safari, nothing changed. made sure it was active in extensions, no change. restarted multiple times, nothing.
Doesn’t work
I’ve tried everything and this doesn’t block me from being able to see people’s feeds on the actual apps which was the only reason i bought this app. It seems to only work in safari.
Works great but running into bug
App has been amazing for my attention and so so helpful. However I’ve been seeing an issue recently where I have to go on safari extension settings and turn on and off the extension manually for the blocks to kick in. Then it will be kicked in for a while like a few days before it somehow disables and I have to redo the process
