It’s decent
One of the big gripes that I have about the app is the notifications anytime send a message to a match. It doesn’t notify you. No sound no vibration anything and I have it all enabled in settings.

I get matches all the time, I went out of town and decided to pay for one week. Often times when I’m swiping left on people, I get “missed matches,“ you don’t get those after you pay. In fact, I got pretty much no matches at all for the entire week. Additionally, when you pay, you are supposed to unlock three or less filter options. For example, education, kids, height. However, Blk doesn’t actually honor those filters and, instead, they continue to show you people that THEY figure you would like. I’m telling you the people I would like, the ones that meet my requirements. I thought it was a technical glitch until I emailed them about it and they confirmed that they expressly ignore your preferences and whoever show you you whoever they want to as if they know you better than you know yourself. no kids means no kids, looking for a relationship means looking for a relationship. It doesn’t mean mixed up my preferences and show me whoever you want to. Why would I PAY for that? They say it’s supposed to be some sort of algorithm matches but a lot of these profiles are literally blank outside of the qualifications I don’t want, such as men with kids, or men under 5‘7“. It’s a complete waste of time and experience. Not to mention it’s not beyond me that Blk is the worst configured app that the match group offers. They put very little effort into it. I can’t even watch shows in the background and swipe the way that I like to because the app is so poorly developed that every three or so swipes, it plays and plays your media player so it pauses whatever you are actually watching in the background because it freezes while swiping. None of their other apps do this. There’s also a lot of cringe notifications meant to appeal the Black people that actually just come across racist. And the constant HIV ads are also very stereotypically racist. Lastly, the fact that when you open the app, the first person you see is a racially ambiguous woman that doesn’t even look black at all, and it’s clearly no more than a quarter black. You couldn’t even feature a black person on an app called black meant for Black people to date? You need to overhaul the entire team and actually bring some Black people in to design a decent app because this is not it.

I’m very disappointed. I paid for a premium subscription only to be told afterwards - to view messages I’d need to pay more money. I’m appalled that sites are getting away with this type of a scam. I am not even using the site for the 3 months. I have no way to respond to messages unless I spend more money.
