Paying to post photos?!
It seemed exciting but 40$ a year to post photos on an app?! That’s not really user friendly seeing any other social media is FREE
The photo sharing platform
Great app, great platform.
Actual passionate photographers sharing for the pleasure of it
No quest for monetization, no fighting the algorithm. Find people who’s photos you like, start a conversation, post your photos. WITHOUT the need to crop them. What 500px was supposed to be and what you wish Instagram was. Everyone is friendly. No trolls, no bots, no scams, NO ADS and no videos. Love it. Long live Glass (hopefully). Try it and tell your friends.
Wasted Potential So Far
If the curators don’t follow you, you may as not well bother - there’s a lot of evidence that there’s an “in” group - if you’re not in that “in” group, or if you don’t immediately cater to their specific tastes (and I believe there are only like, 2 curators so tons of room for bias for sure), then you’ll basically get no discovery. Very difficult to find other people you like as well, that goes both ways. I’m not a big fan of algorithms, but relying on such a small team of curators who seem to have conflicts of interest isn’t a great solution, either. And if you don’t post often, good luck getting seen by a larger group of people because the timeline feed is a slog to go through. If you want an audience, you have to be as addicted to this app as you would with Instagram.
Tech issue or scamming?
I was excited to find a new app designed for professional photography. There’s still not many choices. I really liked it a lot during the free trial. It’s easy to interact with photographers’ posts, and the bookmark effect is cool, too. It was after the free trial when things started going wrong. I decided to give it a shot for the next year with the annual membership which was $39.99. Well it ended up charging nearly $15 more at $54.86 instead, which definitely shouldn’t have happened. I emailed Glass support about this twice, & still today no actual response. Just the automated set-one saying they will respond, but they don’t. So then I emailed again for a refund & nothing. This app seemed cool, but they don’t seem to care to scam you. This experience looks like it’s become more common..
I just have one question:
Why? There is no need for a paid photo app. No one asked for a snobbier/exclusive photography app to further fleece our shrinking community. Flickr already has a paid option if you need to be surrounded by the misguided and delusional.
App Does Not Recognize My Subscription
I would love to try to use the application, but I’m unable to unfortunately. I purchased the subscription, my card was charged, and iOS settings show the subscription, but the app says I need to pay. Obviously I’ve restarted my device, forced closed the app, nothing has worked. I’ve also contacted support nearly 5 times. Radio silence.
