The game is only fun if you have friends to play with. If you play solo, you will get gated unless you spend serious time or money trying to get rare materials. The difficulty of the monsters will surpass you quickly.

Definitely a fun game, especially if you got friends that play with you. The fighting mechanics are great, details and graphics are beautiful. I appreciate that you don’t have to wait or wonder if anyone is going to show up to the raids/marathon hunts unlike Pokémon go. The only thing I can think of for a little improvement is more time for soloing 5 stars or above, I understand that “oh just keep doing marathons to get materials to upgrade” but sometimes we don’t have time to find/travel to a portal that’s opening or one that’s even around. Some of us have gear and enough damage to solo fight but not enough time.

The game is fantastic from a gameplay design. I’m shocked how good the game feels and how engaging combat is. It actually can stand as its own MH title in some ways. I also expect there to be a lot of MTX pay to win stuff from this dev. But these prices are insane for what they actually buy you. Niantic is losing a lot of players on this one because they actively discourage you from playing if you can’t spent money, VERY early, and a huge amount of money does not go very far.
