Down the drain
I downloaded the app and everything was going well until I verified my profile and bought a week of Tinder gold. After that, I couldn’t respond to matches their messages weren’t showing up. My messages won’t show up and they have no answers for me. All I want is just my money back.

I use to match with real people on a regular basis and had plenty of people to talk to and find the right partner. Now over half of my matches have been bots for the last few months and then they just banned my account for zero reason. I literally have done nothing to get banned and was a paying subscriber. They now lost my monthly income they had from me. I am going to have to use another app I guess. Tinders customer support was zero help. Goodbye tinder.

I have two main problems with this site. One is due to my geographical location near the Canadian border. When using the distance search it is trying to match me with people north of the border. As a person who is uninterested and unable to cross the border that doesn’t work for me it’s too bad. There’s no way of excluding that area. I think it would be a nice option if you could search by location. for instance, cities close by Not a certain number of miles from your location The other one is the swipe left or swipe, right. This option doesn’t really give you the opportunity to contemplate or think about whether that somebody you might like. Yes or no now. There’s no going back and taking a second look or third look. In my demographic, most of women seem researching for a monogamous long-term relationship. I’m not looking for a quick hook up. I’m also not looking for another lifetime commitment.

It’s more of the users that cause it than it is the platform. Swiping is just too easy, and no one does it selectively. If you’re a guy, better be over at least an 8 or you’ll be ghosted by all your matches (that means even if they swipe right on you, they’re still not actually interested). If you’re a girl, you’ll be overwhelmed with such a massive selection of easy men you’ll get lazy. Then there’s the pseudo-philosophy on Super Likes and greetings. What should be a great way to get someone you’re really interested in to know, they’ve been branded as “creepy” or “thirsty”. And intros. The fundamental basics of conversation are greetings, but those aren’t welcome here. People demand something mind blowing right off the bat, and they’re still unlikely to respond. And finally, maybe the worst thing is, Tinder will actively select who’s most attractive and show them first. If you’re anything less than gorgeous, you won’t be seen. The only way to bypass this is if you pay for the Platinum service. It’s a shame because it’d work wonders if people were a little more thoughtful. UPDATE: Years after I wrote this, I had money to blow. Fresh out of a long term relationship I decided to give Tinder Platinum a try because I get less matches than ever thanks to the algorithm burying my profile. Platinum offers “priority likes” so people you like will actually see you. I’m in the massively sprawling city of Phoenix where there is endless dating possibilities and even here, with Platinum and all the likes I want to send, it’s ineffective. To make the blow harder, I even spent more money on 12 extra Super Likes. Shooting them off to only girls who have everything in common. No matches. The few random matches I did get over the month wouldn’t respond to anything ranging from thoughtful greetings, compliments, observant jokes regarding their pictures or profile. Nothing. And to be clear, I have self awareness. I’m not a 10, but not a 5 either. I’m 6’ and have a good job with an airline and travel the world for free. I’ve almost never been turned down in person. I’ve been with girls who have successful OF’s and been featured in their content. But this app makes even me feel hopeless and ugly. But I don’t think it’s just the dumb mindset of the users anymore. I think Tinder is a scam designed to keep you desperate, spending money on features that don’t actually work. Don’t do it.
